Saving Grace Dog of the Month: Jimmy Olsen

In what we could have sworn would be the second installment, but turns out to be the inaugural, let us welcome you to our Dog of the Month partnership with Saving Grace NC. We’ve written about Saving Grace before for the work they do in rescuing animals—primarily dogs—and preparing them for new homes. Because many dogs who need a home are often the victims of neglect, if not abuse, Saving Grace goes to impressive lengths to prepare dogs to reenter the world of people.

One such candidate for adoption is hound shepherd mix, Jimmy Olsen. Not only does Jimmy come with a last name—or middle, depending on how you look at it—he also has a wonderful demeanor. As you should be able to tell from the photo, Jimmy has short, dark-golden brown hair with occasional black smatterings. Here’s the rest of Saving Grace’s write-up:

“[He has] soulful eyes that look as though they have been ringed with black eyeliner. He’s about a year old and weighs about 40 pounds (but could gain some more). He’s gets along great with all dogs and has been doing great with his training so he can acclimate quickly into his new forever home. Jimmy would love to tag along with you on walks, runs or hikes and is looking forward to playtime and bonding with his new people.

“He needs a little confidence in busy places but he is very food motivated and also a curious boy so he is ready to rise to the occasion. Jimmy is good in the car and also good in his crate. Jimmy can’t wait to meet his forever BFF and we know he’ll be the best BFF to his people too.”

The folks at Saving Grace put a lot of love into the dogs who stay there, as well as many practical acts of care that include: only accepting animals that play well with others and with people, a free-roaming fenced property, instruction on basics of obedience and manners, a full medical evaluation (spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worming, and flea and tick prevention) and microchip to associate them with their adopter and Saving Grace.
