Leith Toyota donated $21,000 to local animal rescue organization Saving Grace NC this week. The donation was made possible by Leith Toyota’s pledge to gift $100 for every new Toyota sold during the month of December. Leith Toyota General Manager Shawn Witek was on hand to present Executive Director and Founder Molly Goldston with the raised funds, and several dozen dogs were also present to bark, lick, nuzzle and sneeze their support.
The donation was held at Saving Grace NC’s Raleigh location on Creedmoor Road, a sprawling open-air grounds that resembled a dog park. A main house serves as an office, and surrounding barns and cottages provide enclosed housing for up to 80 dogs at a time. The bountiful grounds are fenced in to allow the dogs to run free and mingle, and mingle they certainly did.
All of the dogs were friendly with each other and those of us visiting, with many of them feeling comfortable to be petted, and not a few content to loll about in the sun. Saving Grace NC is a fantastic organization to adopt your dog from, and we recommend their facilities, treatment, and availability of dogs with our highest praise. As we’ve written before:
Dogs are given instruction in basic manners (leash walking, sitting, not jumping on people, crating, etc.) while they adjust to their temporary home.
Dogs at Saving Grace are observed, and when it’s determined that they’re ready to be adopted, any outstanding medical requirements are met (spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worming, and flea and tick prevention). They are then outfitted with a microchip to associate them with their adopter and Saving Grace.
If you or someone you know is interested in adopting, Saving Grace will send whomever is interested a survey about their lifestyle, living habits, family composition and living situation. Based on that information, SG will search for an appropriate match, and forward the information when it’s available.
We think Saving Grace is a wonderful group of people doing something meaningful, and we hope they inspire us all to do something worthwhile.
