Each year, the Speed Equipment Manufacturing Association (SEMA) convention draws the most creative and talented car modifiers to show off their unique cars and products. It’s a great time of year for anyone who loves cars – especially for those of us who like to modify cars – to see what their favorite car companies are up to. The results are always fantastic. Let’s take some time to highlight a few of our favorite Toyota Concepts from this year’s convention.
The Toyota “Tundrasine”
Measuring over 26 feet, the “Tunrasine” is a Toyota Tundra limousine fusion. Built by Toyota, the Tundrasine concept is said to take “the best of Tundra and turn it into the pinnacle of executive transport.” We thought that was a bit of a stretch, until we saw the inside. It’s exceptional. Taking inspiration from the cockpits and passenger compartments of luxury private jets, the interior of the Tundrasine may inspire feelings of weightless euphoria.
The Tonka Truck 4Runner
For this concept, Toyota teamed up with the Funrise Toy Corporation (manufacturer of Tonka toys for Hasbro) to make the Tonka-Truck dreams of our childhood a reality. They slapped on a ten-inch Bulletproof Suspension lift kit and twenty-inch Ultra Motorsports Colosuss wheels with Mickey Thompson Baja off-road tires to make this thing walk the talk. Add the roof rack, spare tire, and Tonka decals to the equation, and you’ve got a vehicle that fears no mountain.
Toyota Sienna R-Tuned
Would you believe it if we told you that our stock-engine mini-van could take on your 6.2-Liter V8 Camaro SS? Because it can, and it did. The R-Tuned Toyota Sienna concept by Toyota Technical Center and DG-Spec cut a lap time quicker than a V8 Camaro by a whole second. The team only added performance tires, wheels, brakes, adjustable shocks with racing springs, a cold air intake, and a clutch-type limited slip differential. The result, was a stock-engine Toyota Sienna that made Camaro owners very unhappy.
Did you see any Toyota concepts that we missed? Be sure to share them with us on Facebook or Twitter. This is the kind of thing we like to see car modifiers doing: taking crazy ideas and making them a reality. It just goes to show how much a Toyota is really capable of.
